POSTED: Wednesday, March 2nd, 2010 First many, many thanks to all who came to the fundraiser. Without your participation we could not have achieved what we did. Many, many thanks to the core group that put in the hours and hours of meetings, phone calls, e-mails and passing out flyers as well as the hours and miles of gathering money and donations for auction. Many, many thanks to all sponsors who in one of our worst economic times gave many things for us to auction. Last but certainly not least many thanks to my wife whose organizational skills and tireless drive to succeed has helped us fulfill our mission. Our passion is our family, and our family is the Scottsdale Saddle Club. Our home is Horse Lovers Park. We and other clubs could possibly lose our home to this economy. We will not lose our home and move our family without doing everything possible to save it. Today I turned over $23,800 to the Arizona Horse Lovers Foundation. PayPal monies will be released soon which will bring our total to over $25,000. Money is still coming in and we are not sure when the donations will end but we welcome them. When we reach a final total we will publish it. Now we need to pray that the City of Phoenix will accept what we have presented and keep the park open until June 30th. Thank you all, Ross Libonati SSC President |

Last night's budget meeting had a great turn out from the equine community. We need YOUR HELP to keep the park open! Please plan to attend the fund raising rally for the park on Sunday Feb. 28th from Noon-6:00pm. We have many things in the works. A live band, additional entertainment in the arena, an auction (silent or live...not sure which), food, 50/50 raffle and if you have a business you can set up a table/booth for a small donation. Please view the flyers by clicking the link below. If you can come volunteer to help out that would be greatly appreciated.

Please join the Save Horse Lovers Park Rally! As many of you know, the City of Phoenix will no longer be able to fund Horse Lover’s Park. Currently the park is slated to close on April 5th of this year.
The equestrian community is a strong one and more determined and organized than ever before to work to keep the ONLY public use equestrian park open.
Currently there are many options being explored to find a way to keep the park running as it has been. As the equine community works to find a means to do this, we need more time. This rally is to raise money to help keep the park open until June 30th. This will allow the community time to get a program in place to save the park on a permanent basis and also allow the park to honor the Park Cards that have been purchased.
The Arizona Horse Lover’s Foundation has graciously offered to match up to a $30,000 donation. This will keep the park open until June 30,2010. We can’t do it alone WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! |

To All Core Group Members, SSC Board and Members and Everyone Who is Concerned with the Closure of HLP, It is imperative that you come to the Tuesday night budget hearing at the Paradise Valley Community Center 17402 N 40th Street. The meeting starts at 6pm in the multi purpose room. A huge presence is once again needed and please wear your cowboy hat. I would like to see 300+ people there if possible. We need to get the city council to keep the park open through their fiscal year which is June 30th. This will allow us time to further explore the options they gave us to keep the park open. It will also allow the park to finish their peak season and honor the HLP cards that people have purchased. Please join us and bring your family, neighbors, friends and anyone else you can. Please be there this is vital and don't forget your cowboy hats! Thanks, Ross Libonati SSC President |

Thank you to all for coming out to the first Phoenix city budget cut meeting. I think we made up at least 1/3 of the entire meeting. We had some wonderful people speak on behalf of the park like, Chelesa Linehan the AAEC Student Horseman's Association President and Willie Bare the President from NVSC and myself. We have reached our first goal by obtaining a meeting with the Phoenix City Parks Dept. Our voices were heard. Now we need to find out what it will take to save Horse Lovers Park. There is a core group that will be meeting tonight with the Phoenix Parks Dept. We are not done yet! Meetings need to be attended and I feel another rally at HLP coming on. So Get Ready! Again Thank You, Thank You ,Thank You for all your support Ross Libonati SSC President |

Your presence is needed Wednesday night February 10th at the first Budget Hearing. This budget hearing will have all council members present for the city of Phoenix. This will be the only meeting where all council members will be present. This meeting will start at 6pm at the Carl Hayden High School Auditorium 3333 W. Roosevelt Street Phoenix, AZ 85009. This meeting needs to be attended en masse. It’s imperative that YOU attend and notify as many people as possible. We want to get at least 300 cowboy hats at this meeting. Please wear your cowboy hat we want them to know who we are and why we are there. Carpool, take the bus, use light rail or whatever it takes to get there. Please pass this on to whomever you feel may be threatened by the closure of Horse Lovers Park. And remember to wear your cowboy hat! Please check the home page on our site for all updates on the park and the rally we will be having at HLP in the near future. www.scottsdalesaddleclub.com Ross Libonati 2010 President |

To SSC Members and All Other Equestrians
Interested in Saving Horse Lovers Park, Once again we are in a battle to save our home along with every other group that uses Horse Lovers Park. Our web site will become information central for this movement. In the budget cuts for the City of Phoenix, the plan is to close Horse Lovers Park all together this means the arenas as well as the trails. If this closure occurs the date the park will close is April 5, 2010. We have very little time to organize. It will take a concerted effort by everyone in this club and by every other club to pull this off. The front page of our SSC web site will be updated as this unfolds and mass emails will be sent to all. Thanks, Ross SSC President |
